Adult Pool Party
The annual Adult Pool Party is a signature Owl Creek event. Every summer the pool area is turned into a tropical island oasis with great food, island themed drinks, and a live band or DJ. Residents are encouraged to dress in island themed attire (best costume prize). In 2014, over 80 residents and guests attended the party. Fun! Fun! Fun!
Comedy Night
An annual favorite usually held in January/February…Comedy Night at Owl Creek! RSVP ASAP for one of the most popular adult night events at the Lodge. Great comedians, laughter, a cozy Lodge atmosphere, and good friends at your side. What more could you ask for on a cold winter’s night?
Dads and Kids Campout
For the last 24 years, Owl Creek Dads have taken their kids/grandkids out for a weekend of camping in the great outdoors. Children look forward to this event months in advance. The campout begins on a fall Friday afternoon/evening and ends Sunday morning/mid-day. Friday dinner, Saturday and Sunday breakfasts are provided under the circus style tent on picnic tables (optional Saturday catered dinner for an extra charge). Activities include a hike (long and short), coordinated games, storytelling around a large camp fire, group picture, and tons of great memories. Year after year, the Owl Creek Dads and Kids Campout delivers a great experience, and one of the best reasons to live in this community. In 2014, there were over 200 attendees!
Easter Egg Hunt
Prior to the springtime holiday, Owl Creek hosts a giant Easter Egg Hunt for resident children. The cost is $8 per family, and parents are asked to drop off 1 dozen filled eggs before the event. The event begins in the gym, children crafts are available, and a lite lunch is served. Plus, kids can pose with the Easter Bunny for a photo! Then, children are grouped by age, and allowed to start their hunt on the lawn next to the playground. It’s an outstanding family afternoon event right here in our own backyard.
Golf Scramble
An annual favorite fundraiser for Owl Creek’s swim team, the Golf Scramble held in June invites residents and their friends to enjoy a day at a local, top-tier golf course. Players scramble for great prizes and bragging rights. Business sponsors are always welcome at this event!
Halloween/Chili Cookoff Party
The Sunday preceding Halloween, the Owl Creek gym is decorated for the Halloween Children’s Party & Chili Cook-off. Activities include a costume contest, games, face painting, and a balloon artist. Complimentary hot dogs and lemonade is served. At the same time as the Halloween activities are occurring, residents get to taste some great chili at the cook-off. Bring your taste buds and vote for your favorite! A prize (and bragging rights) is awarded to the resident with the best tasting chili!
Hanging/Unhanging of the Greens
Every year at the start of the holiday season, resident volunteers of all ages get together to enjoy Hanging of the Greens. It begins with a pancake breakfast that includes bacon, sausage, donated casseroles, assorted fruits, danish, coffee, and juice served by Owl Creek Board Members. Then they decorate the entrances, Lodge and lamp posts throughout the neighborhood with lights, wreaths, garland, ribbons, and bows. Owl Creek is transformed into a Holiday Winter Wonderland! In early January, volunteers repeat this fun morning with the “Unhanging of the Greens”. It’s a great way to spend a Saturday morning with fellow neighbors and students may qualify for service hours.
Happy Hours
On select Fridays (January through April) the Owl Creek Lodge welcomes adult residents to “Happy Hour.” A comfortable atmosphere featuring recorded music and a full bar allows couples and neighbors to unwind and reconnect. It’s the ideal place to sit back and relax together at Owl Creek.
Holiday at the Lodge
Santa Claus makes an appearance at Owl Creek mid-December, along with horse-drawn carriage rides through the neighborhood. Children have an opportunity to talk with Santa, and enjoy free arts & crafts. Residents kindly share plates of homemade cookies with one another. Complimentary refreshments are served and holiday music is played, allowing neighbors to reconnect at this festive event. It’s a great time in the Lodge for residents old & young!
July 4th
Return to 1776 at Owl Creek’s 4th of July Celebration. The day starts at noon with a Flag Ceremony traditionally given by the Governor Issac Shelby Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. Children recite the Pledge of Allegiance and enjoy a Bell Ringing ceremony, followed by a colorful Fife & Drum parade down Hobbs Station Road! Then it’s back to the pool for water games, raffle prizes and live DJ entertainment! Join us on July 4th and give your family memories that will endure a lifetime.
Labor Day Cardboard Boat Race
Labor Day at Owl Creek starts with a morning bike parade led by the Middletown Fire Department! Moving the party poolside, residents are treated to snack bar treats and cold refreshments. Entertainment, such as the Bubble Truck, delights the children from 12-2pm. The highlight of the day is the Cardboard Boat Race at 2pm. This comical activity features resident family teams who’ve worked hard building boats using only duct tape and cardboard. The boats are then launched poolside, and teams race from one end of the pool and back. Prizes are awarded for the fastest time, the best design and best sinking– the “Titanic” award!
Music on the Lawn
Here comes the Band! FREE outdoor evening concerts in the summertime for residents and their friends. Bring a lounge chair, beverages and snacks while you enjoy live performances in front of the Lodge.
Oktoberfest
Residents and guests are invited to an afternoon/evening of great German fun each year for Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest takes place on Owl Creek property between the Lodge, pool, and gym with a large circus style tent for dining on authentic German food. In addition to the authentic German dinner, there are multiple German beers, wine, soft drinks, water, homemade bratwurst, hot dogs, and soft pretzels for sale. There is also an Owl Creek designed collectible beer stein and T-shirts that can be ordered in advance. In 2014, Oktoberfest entertainment included a live German band playing throughout the day and evening, an authentic German dance group, a beer garden, children’s crafts, traditional games for both adults and kids, a live wood carver, and a vendor selling antique steins from around the world.

This February event recognizes the conclusion of the professional football season! It is the most widely watched event on television. So…Owl Creek gets in the game with a Lodge party featuring special draft beers, snacks and subway-type sandwiches, plus a cash bar. Guys & gals–wear your team colors and join your neighbors to cheer on your favorite AFC or NFC team!!
Town Hall/New Resident Reception
Welcoming our newest neighbors to Owl Creek is an important task. So, we hold an annual Town Hall meeting featuring key note speakers from Louisville, plus a reception is held after the meeting in honor of the new homeowners. The OC Board of Directors also updates residents on the financial and operating status of the association.
Trivia Night
For the last 3 years, Owl Creek’s residents have been treated to a really fun event, Trivia Night! Each team of 8 people bring appetizers and snacks for their table and compete against other teams with trivia questions that are both fun and challenging. Cash prizes are awarded to the top 3 teams along with other surprise prizes. It’s a great way to spend an evening with your neighbors and friends (guests are always welcome). A full cash bar is available. This event has increased in popularity every year. In 2014 we had 24 tables and 192 participants!
Volunteer Appreciation Reception
The execution of many of the activities at Owl Creek depends on the resident volunteers of this community. People who live in Owl Creek show their support by investing personal hours in events of their choice, small groups and special activities at Owl Creek. The annual Volunteer Reception recognizes these folks at an evening at the Lodge, with complimentary dinner, drinks and award presentations.
